Nelson Scholarship 2012

WVC at Omak accounting scholarship deadline Feb. 27

Through a generous donation of the Nelson family, $5,000 in scholarships for tuition will be awarded to students enrolled in, or planning to enroll in the Wenatchee Valley College (WVC) at Omak accounting program.

Former graduates of Omak High School, Richard “Dick” Nelson, class of 1942 and Susan Featherstone Nelson, class of 1946, now of Bellevue, Wash., want to share this gift with deserving students. Susan is a former certified public accountant and certified financial planner and Richard is an investment adviser. They recently retired from Nelson Financial Services, Inc.

Ten students have benefited from the Nelson Accounting Scholarship, now in its fourth year at WVC at Omak. Nelson Scholarship recipient Greg Epps said, “I am very grateful for the financial benefit that I am getting from the Nelson Scholarship. The rewards are exponential because of the interest expense that was reduced by fewer student loans. However, I think that the biggest benefits were the feelings of success and accomplishment that empowered me to be even more motivated to improve my future.”

Students may apply by completing the Nelson Accounting Scholarship application available at the WVC at Omak financial aid office.  Complete applications must be received by Feb. 27. For more information call 509.422.7808.
